New Zealand cat behaviour consultant: www.catbehaviouralsolutions.com

There are many factors that influence cats' behaviour and trigger some undesirable behaviours.  Jeannette Vine is a Certified Feline Behavioural Consultant and a Full Member of the International Society of Animal Professionals.  Jeannette has trained and studied the various factors that trigger particular behaviours and she will work with you to identify the source of the issue and put in place a behavioural modification plan to resolve or manage the behaviours.
Jeannette has worked with clients and their cats and has experience in managing and resolving:

  • aggression to other cats in the household

  • aggression towards people

  • litter box issues

  • destructive scratching

  • marking/spraying behaviour

  • excessive vocalising

  • over-grooming

  • timidity.

"We were at the end of our tethers with our cat’s aggression and we were desperate for help. Our search led us to Jeanette and she carried out a comprehensive assessment of the interactions between humans and cat. Jeanette then provided us with an excellent briefing of what was going on, along with some very practical immediate and longer term strategies. We implemented all of these over the following days and weeks and have had no episodes of aggression since. Our key learning has been that changing human behaviour is key to changing cat behaviour. Our cat is relaxed and content - we feel safe and relaxed - and we are all living happily together.

Thanks Jeanette for your professional help - which has worked really well."

ABOUT THE PROCESS

  • Initial contact:  please get in touch via the contact page or email hello@catbehaviouralsolutions.com.   I'll reply with available consultation times and a link to a questionnaire (to be completed at least 72 hours before the assessment).

  • Preparation:  as well as then completed questionnaire, I'll ask you to send a simple floor plan showing where your cat's resources are (doesn't need to be pretty!), and often short videos of the behaviour can be helpful.  For situations where aggression is involved, videos aren't necessary - a description will be fine.

  • Booking confirmation:  once we've agreed on a time and I've received the required information, I'll confirm the booking, send the online meeting link and include my invoice (for payment prior to the online consultation).

  • Consultation:  during the online consultation you're welcome to take notes, but know that I'll also take notes and send you a personalized report with recommendations, along with links to helpful resources (I don't receive a commission, these are just products or companies that I've found have useful items for our cats).

  • Follow-up:  you're welcome to email me with questions after receiving the report so we can be sure you have the information you need to make the recommended changes.  A 30-minute follow-up call is also available to you and should be booked within 8 weeks of the initial consultation.

  • Depending on the nature of the behavioural issue, it may be that the cat requires a veterinary visit, in case a medical condition is the cause. If this occurs, I can work with your vet, contact them to seek information (with your permission) and provide them with a copy of my report.

If your cat’s behaviour changes suddenly or seems unusual, please consult your veterinarian, as behavioural changes can sometimes be linked to underlying medical conditions.
